The Interlibrary Loan Service in the University of Crete Library

The University of Crete Library has developed an ILL Service in all branches

The Service has the ability to:

• supply photocopies of articles, standards, patents and other informative material
• borrow books, theses, conference proceedings etc.

The Interlibrary Loan Service collaborates with the following Libraries:

Libraries in Greece

•  Libraries of the University of Crete
• Greek Scientific and Technological Libraries, members of the National Network of Academic, Research and Technological Libraries of the National Documentation Center
• Academic, Research and Technological Libraries, non-members of the National Network of Academic, Research and Technological Libraries

Libraries abroad

• British Library (U.K.)
• GBV - Geimeinsamer Bibliotheksverbund (Germany)
• Ingenta (U.S.A.)
• Subito (Germany)
• Technical University Delft Library (Holland).
• IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions)

Document delivery

The requested articles, standards, patents and other informative material can be delivered by::

• E-mail (Immediate delivery)
• Fax (Immediate delivery)
• Regular mail (the delivery time fluctuates between 2 and 5 days)

Books, theses, conference proceedings etc. are delivered by regular mail and the delivery time fluctuates between 2 and 5 days.

User notification

The Interlibrary Loan Service notifies the user by telephone or by e-mail, once the requested material has arrived.

Charges

In any case, the user definitely pays for the cost of the material:

For books:
Greek Libraries charge the user for the cost of the transport.
As for Libraries abroad, the Library supplying the material determines the cost.

For articles, standards, patents and other informative material:
The cost of ILL between Greek Libraries depends on the number of pages and the delivery method.
As for Libraries abroad, the Library supplying the material determines the cost.

Potential users of ILL Service

All members of the University of Crete as well as other users belonging to the educational, scientific, and research community of Crete, have the right to use this service.

Document supply request form

The document supply request forms are filled in and consigned to the Interlibrary Loan Service. There is also ability of electronic request of material.
